Funeral services for Yvonne Williams, 60, of Hobbs will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, 2011, at First Baptist Church. Pastor Richard Lewis will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 10 a.m. 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. until noon at Chapel of Hope.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Williams died June 15, 2011, at her home in Hobbs. She was born March 7, 1951, in Chapel Hill, Texas. She married Zeak Williams on October 27, 1975, in Lovington.
Yvonne worked 13 years as a production clerk for Texaco. She worked for the Hobbs School System for 19 years, mostly at Booker T. Washington School. She served as a board member for NMJC. Yvonne served as missionary president of Pleasant Green Baptist Church as well as taught Sunday school for more than 30 years. Her favorite saying was, Here comes Yvonne and ol lucky Zeak.
She was an active member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Zeak Williams, of Hobbs four sons, Zeak Lovell Williams III of El Paso, TX, Eric K. Williams of Arlington, VA, Shawn D. Williams of Hobbs and Cedric Dane Williams of Houston special niece and nephew, Yvonne and Adam Paul Lowe of Hobbs two brothers, Lewis Ward of Dallas and Keith Ward of Hobbs four sisters, Mary Crawford of Houston, Muriel Morrison of Hobbs, Sherry Shanklin of Austin and Brenda Lowe of Austin three grandsons, Eric Williams of Arlington, VA, and Brandon and Devon Williams of San Antonio four granddaughters, Erica Williams of Arlington, VA, Zaria Sanders of Midland and Mya and Jada Williams of Midland a special friend, Corrina Lopez of Hobbs and cousin, Mattie Tyson of Hobbs.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Alexander Ward, Sr., in 1982 and a sisterinlaw, Donna Ward.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
