Woodrow Rodgers

April 24, 1948 — August 28, 2011

Memorial services for Woodrow Woody Rodgers will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Hobbs First Assembly with Pastor Jonathan Calvera and Pastor LaVoid Ford officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 8 a.m. 7 p.m. and 8:00 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.

He worked in the telephone communications field for 34 years with perfect attendance. His favorite pastime was hunting. He would share stories of his trips to the mountains with his son, Woody and his family. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorns. His favorite saying during football season was, How bout them Cowboys During his younger years he loved to play softball and was very instrumental in helping Temple Baptist of Hobbs win many games and tournaments.

He had many friends and never met a stranger. He never forgot his former coworkers and he loved all of them just like family.

Woody is survived by his wife, Ginny Rodgers of Odessa, TX two sons, Woodrow Rodgers, Jr. and wife Erica of Lubbock, TX, and Craig Gailerdet of Arizona two step children, Melissa James and husband Adam, and Elias Cervantez of Kilgore, TX his mother, Imogene Rodgers of Hobbs, NM brother, Ron Rodgers and wife Martha of Matthews, NC his aunt, Anne Harland and husband Chuck of Eunice, NM uncle, Roy Tab of Midland, TX 3 grandchildren and several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say thank you to Sienna Nursing Rehab of Odessa, TX, and Compass Hospice for their compassionate care and concern for Woody during his illness.
