Woodrow L. Gassaway, 100 of Hobbs, New Mexico, left this earth to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. He was born February 18, 1912, in Gracemont, OK. He married Vera Irene McPherson December 23, 1941 in Gracemont, OK. She died December 30, 2002. They lived in Gracemont until 1954 and at that time moved to Hobbs. In 1970 they opened the Blue Quail Mobile Home Park on East Sanger.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Prairie Haven Cemetery officiated by Brent Van Dyke. Visitation will be Friday, June 8, 1 4 p.m. at Chapel of Hope.
Woodrow was a lifetime farmer. He farmed from 1957 to 1989 raising cotton, peanuts, sunflowers, alfalfa hay, watermelons and a garden for produce for Hobbs and the surrounding area he loved anything that grew. He also was a nature lover. Woody will be greatly missed.
Surviving Woodrow is his son, Leslie Gassaway, and wife Karen, two daughters, Joleen Davenport and Vera Owen, and husband Terry six grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Preceding him in death was his wife of sixtyone years, Vera Irene, and many brothers and sisters.
