Winnie D. Kelly

August 29, 1930 — November 2, 2024

Winnie Duncan Kelly, born August 29, 1930, in Sierra Blanca, Texas, to Duane and Edna Duncan, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, in Spokane, Washington surrounded by her family. She was 94 years old.

Winnie graduated from Hobbs High School and attended the University of New Mexico. She married Rupert E. Kelly, with whom she shared a life full of love and built a family, raising three children.

Winnie dedicated her career to public service, retiring as a Petroleum Engineering Technician with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Bureau of Land Management (BLM). She later transitioned to the financial sector, where she served as a trust officer at United Trust Company, Wells Fargo, and Western Commerce Bank. Known for her professionalism, integrity, and commitment, Winnie touched many lives through her work.

In her personal life, Winnie had a passion for gardening, particularly tending to her beloved roses, irises, and peonies. Her gardens were a vibrant reflection of her nurturing spirit and her love for beauty in the simple joys of life. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church.

Winnie is survived by her children: son Steve Kelly of Las Cruces, NM; son Mark Kelly (Ella) of Farmington, NM; and daughter Patricia Kelly (Peggy) of Spokane, WA. She was a proud grandmother to Erin Pruett (Jason) of Greeley, CO and Eric Kelly (Kendell) of Columbia, MO. She was the great-grand mother to Edie Grace Kelly and Eli Cole Pruett. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Dr. Joyce Falk, of Santa Barbara, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a favorite charity in Winnie’s memory, honoring her legacy of generosity and kindness. A special thank you to all of the loving and caring professionals at Touchmark and close friend Karen Bichler.

Winnie’s warmth, wisdom, and love will be dearly missed, and she will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.

Services will be held at a later date.
