Wilma WALLACH DeKnegt (95), a very special lady, moved on to heaven on August 15 In Odessa, Texas. She was born November 11, 1922 in Shamrock, Oklahoma to Beulah and Lester Wright. On February 13, 1939 she married Andrew Stanley Wallach. They were married until his death June 1984. She later married Albert DeKnegt. After his death in 1989, she moved to Ruidoso.
While in Ruidoso she was an active member of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Posse for 10 years and was their oldest member to retire at age 92. She had macular degeneration, so someone asked her how she could be in the Sheriff Posse. Her answer: "I have a seeing eye horse." Every Friday night Wilma liked to dance with her partner, Culley, at Cree Meadows where a table was always reserved for her and her friends. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Wilma was known for making a statement with her fashionable clothes and jewelry. Number one in her life was her faith in Jesus Christ.
Wilma is survived by a sister, Wanda Spraggins; daughters Gloria Powers (David) and Ginger Trichell; grandchildren: Todd and Brett Hendrickson, Terri and Mike Trichell; great grandchildren, Drew and Chad Sartain; one great-great grandson, James Hendrickson; two special nieces, Patricia Stapler and Lori Creel; beloved nephew, Gary Spraggins; other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her great grandson, Ryan Hendrickson.
