Willie Williams

Willie Edd Bill Williams, 92, passed away December 23, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born October 5, 1918, in Girard, Texas. He married Emma Sue Williams on July 7, 2007, in Tatum.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010, at Jefferson Street Church of Christ. Minister Clay Martin, assisted by minister Jesse Agnew, will preside over the services, which are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

W. E. Bill Williams was first and foremost a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. He worked on the family farm and as a carpenters apprentice with his uncle until 1942, when he joined the naval servces as a CB and served in South Africa and the Philippines until the end of WWII. He continued his craft as a carpenter until the day he died. His craft was an art form, which was one of a kind. Muich of the development of Hobbs was a contribution of his work. He was married to Geneva Williams for 45 years until her passing in 2001. They had one child together, Edwina Williams Henslee, and 4 stepchildren: Fenis Smith, Freda Smith Walker, Steve Cantrell and Bonnie Cantrell Jones.

Bill was a lifelong member of Jefferson Street Church of Christ, where he served the Lord faithfully.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sue his sister, Ethel Carr his daughter, Edwina Henslee and husband Monnie and their two sons, Taylor and Tylor Henslee. He is survived by one stepdaughter, Freda Matthews of Foreman, Arkansas, nine stepgrandchildren, Jon Smith and Sara Cantrell of Hobbs, Melesa Prado of Longview, Texas, Teresa Creal and Cecil Smith of Longview, Texas, Amy Jones of Timberon, New Mexico, Oddray Jones of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Rhett Jones of Florida, David Walker of Arkansas and numerous greatgrandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Kalse and Nancy Jane Williams two brothers, Newel and Robert Williams two sisters, Maggie Valentine and Velma Morales 3 stepchildren, Fenis Smith, Steve Cantrell and Bonnie Jones and two grandchildren, William Ryan and Crysta LaShawn Henslee.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Mexico Christian Childrens Home, 1356 NM 236, Portales, NM 88130.
