Our angel on earth, Mae Snowden, departed this earth to go to her heavenly reward on April 30, 2010. Mae was born in Koscuisko, Mississippi, to Molly and William Peninger on May 4, 1923. She married Harry Ganaway in 1939 in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He preceded her in death in 1961. She later married Jack Snowden in 1964 in Hobbs.
Mae moved to Hobbs in 1951. She loved gardening and working in her yard. She had many friends over the years who had remained close. She was always doing things for people, taking food to shutins and being a good Samaritan for anyone who needed anything. She was a mighty prayer warrior. She loved having her large family around and was a wonderful cook. Mae was happy and enjoyed her life right to the end. Heaven is surely a better place with her there.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Assembly of God Church, 2714 N. Dal Paso, Hobbs, under the direction of Chapel of Hope. Graveside services will immediately follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be at Chapel of Hope 8 a.m. 8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. noon on Wednesday. Pastory Bill Hicks and Maes grandson, Chad Ganaway, will be doing the service.
Moe is survived by her children, Floyd and wife Deanna, Betth Ann Trotter and husband Blasnchard, Earl Ganaway, Billy Ganaway and wife Suzy, Gloria Austin and husband Steve one sister eleven grandchildren, 25 greatgrandchildren and 3 greatgreatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, Harry Ganaway and Jack Snowden, greatgreatgrandson, Kayden Bolden, adopted daughter Sandy Robinson, five brothers and other numerous friends and relatives.
