Services for Willie James Buddy Lewis, Sr. will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2010, at Vista Pointe Baptist Church.
Pastor Don Gaston will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. 5 p.m. Tuesday, 8 a.m. 6 p.m. Wednesday and 8 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Family will be in attendance from 4 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mr. Lewis, 78 died February 10, 2010, at Lea Regional Medical Center. He was born August 1, 1931, in Macon, Mississippi. He married Mamie Marie Taylor on January 1, 1952, in Macon, Mississppi.
Buddy worked on a farm in his early life in Mississippi. After he and Mamie married, they raised many children for 16 years before their first child was born. Buddy and Mamie moved to Hobbs from Arkansas in 1964. He worked as a heavty operator for 26 years for B F Walker and several years for Bull Dog Services until his retirement. Buddys favorite sport was baseball. He loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Buddy was a hardworking, great man.
He was a member of Vista Pointe Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mamie Lewis of Hobbs three sons, Willie James Lewis. Jr. and friend, Diana Constancio of Hobbs, Davie Lee Lewis and wife Betty of Heidelberg, Germany, Peter Dewayne Lewis and wife Lisa of Hobbs one brother, Joseph Lewis of Blytheville, Arkansas three sisters, Ella Sanders of Blytheville, Arkansas, Annie Taylor of Hobbs and Gloria Overton of Elaine, Illinois 11 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Buddy was preceded in death by a baby son in 1956 whose name was to be
Willie James Lewis, Jr. two brothers and three sisters.
