William Moon

Funeral services for W.E. Gene Moon of Hobbs, N.M., will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor David Matkins officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery.

Visitation is 11 a.m. -5 p.m. today, 8 a.m. -7 p.m. Wednesday with the family in attendance from 5-7 p.m. and 8-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Mr. Moon, 82, died July 4, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Boise City, Okla.

Mr. Moon moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1940. He was a partner in Joe Brown Construction. Gene retired after many years of service as a street supervishy;sor with the City of Hobbs. He enjoyed traveling and square dancing.

He was a member of Fellowship of Believers.

Survivors include his wife, Alice Moon of Hobbs, N.M.; two sons, Herman Gene Moon of Enid, Okla., and Jimmy Moon and wife Karen of Hobbs, N.M.; a daughter, Kay Dennis of Hobbs, N.M.; three brothers, John Moon of Lakewood, Calif., Bill Moon of Altus, Okla., and Winfred Moon of Silver City, Okla.; a sister, Winona Anderson and husband Homer of Georgetown, Texas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Wilma Jean Cornett Moon; and four brothers, Tom, Claude, Charles and Bob Moon.
