Funeral services for W. B. Bill Armitage Lindsey, Jr. will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012, Jefferson St. Church of Christ. Interment will take place right after services at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 18 from 11 a.m. 6 p.m. at Chapel of Hope. Bill died September 12, 2012, at his home in Hobbs. He was born April 25, 1930, in Quitaque, TX, to William and Ozella Lindsey.
Bill has been in Hobbs for over 75 years. He was a baseball umpire, enjoyed high school football, watched the TV westerns on Wednesday and was an avid fan of all of the CSI series. He worked in maintenance at Doran Chevrolet and worked for KL Towle Trucking for 8 years. He was a member of Jefferson St. Church of Christ.
He is survived by his brothers, Al Armitage, and wife Nellie, of Hobbs, Melvin Armitage of Hobbs and Paul Armitage of Oakland, CA a sister, Abbie Armitage of Hobbs a special niece, Melva Norton, of Hobbs and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents, his father who raised him, John Lee Armitage and sisters Doris Jean Armitage and Leontyne Armitage.
