William Wheeler Jarrett, Jr. was born October 25, 1922 in Brawley, CA to William and Marjorie Jarrett. He passed away in Hobbs, NM on July 29, 2015 at the age of 92.
During World War II, he served in the US Army as a corporal and was stationed in England. He married Sarah Ann Chapple in San Angelo, TX on October 12, 1945. William grew up and raised his family on a farm in Eldorado, TX. He enjoyed farming and playing dominoes with friends after church on Wednesday and Sunday nights. William and Sarah moved to Artesia, NM in 1966 where they lived for thirty-three years. William was employed by Marathon Oil until his retirement in 1983. He also served ten years as a reserve officer for the Eddy County Sheriff's Department. In retirement, William enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and friends, and he also enjoyed gardening. He loved country music and playing his fiddle and guitar. Most of all he enjoyed being at home surrounded by his wife and family. He was a member of Taylor Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his spouse, Sarah Jarrett of Hobbs, NM, two sons and their spouses; Bill Jarrett and Harlean of Hobbs, NM, Lee Jarrett and Kathy of Burleson, TX, one daughter and her husband; Nancy Cearley and Jeff of Hobbs, NM; one sister-in-law; Gloria Jarrett of San Angelo, TX, grandchildren; Jenny Lee Nelson and husband Michael, Tracy Lee Trent and husband Mark, Charles Gleghorn and wife Jenifer, Marjorie D. Reza and husband Danny, Ryan Jarrett and wife Chaundra, Paula Smith, Amy Lee Green, Jennifer Sue Garcia and husband Jesse, eighteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one sister; Dorothy Gann, two brothers; Nolte Jarrett and Aubrey Jarrett, and one son-in-law; Toby Gleghorn.
