William Held

A funeral service for Willie Held of Hobbs will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2010, at Choose Life Church.

Pastor Dean Schropshire will officiate. Burial will follow services at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Held, 38, died September 21, 2010, in Hobbs. He was born December 11, 1971, in El Paso Texas. Ne married Nikki Newton Held on February 13, 1993, in Hobbs.

Willie graduated from Hobbs High School in 1990 and obtained his Associates Degree at New Mexico Junior College. Willie loved sports and was a devoted Raiders fan. He also enjoyed working on cars, hanging out with his friends at the gun range, and riding his motorcycle. Willie worked for several car dealerships in Hobbs for many years before joining the ETUS LES crew in Eunice. He was fortunate enough to travel abroad to such places as the Netherlands, Germany and France. Because Willie never met a stranger, he had many loyal and loving friends that he considered extended friends.

Survivors include wife Nikki Held of Hobbs daughter Bradee Held of Hobbs parents Bill and Pat Held of Bull Head City, Arizona sister Jaci Held of Hobbs nieces Jordin and Alexis Held of Hobbs father and motherinlaw Curtiss and LaVerne Newton of Hobbs brotherinlaw Damon Newton of Tucson, Arizona nephews Tristin Newton of Hawaii and Kayden Newton of Arizona niece Addison McElyea of Texas uncle and aunt Bill and Sheila Owens of El Paso uncle and aunt Ernie and Karen Hood of Tomball, Texas grandmother Joanne Newton of Jal uncle and aunt Mickey and Barbara Tadlock of Levelland, Texas cousins Justin and Dee Ray Tadlock and family of Texas uncle Leon Marion of Dayton, Texas numerous cousins, uncles and aunts and too many friends to mention but too special to forget.

Willie was preceded in death by greatgrandparents William and Betha Bolt grandparents Jack and Dorothy Owens and Ernie and Ruth Hood uncle Jerreyl Marion.
