Weldon Neil Sims was born in South Bend, TX on June 30, 1933. He passed into the eternal arms of Jesus after a prayer with his wife, Doranne of 60 years on July 9, 2018 at his home in Hobbs.

After he was discharged, he attended Odessa Jr. College for 2 years. He was an avid golfer. Weldon moved to Hobbs in 1957 to work for B. S. & B Tank Co. He met Doranne Brown that same year at the Brown's North 40 Miniature Golf Course on Bender Blvd. They married on May 17, 1958 at the bride's parents' home on St. Anne Pl.
Weldon spent much of his career with Phillips Petroleum until he retired and was involved for the next few years in several vocations, including owning and operating North 40 Restaurant.
