Welch Morgan

Welch Morgan, 90, was born January 10, 1925 in Wichita Falls, TX to Columbus Welch and Mamie Frances Hull Morgan. He passed away June 26, 2015 in Clovis, NM.

He earned an Associate's degree in Accounting. He married Eunice Josephine (Jody) Farrar on February 17, 1945 in Ruidoso Valley, NM. They moved to Hobbs, NM after living in Roswell and Eunice for a short time. They moved to Clovis, NM in May 2014. Mr. Morgan served as Hobbs City Clerk briefly before joining the Employment Security Commission of New Mexico. He was a Master Mason and a Shriner. Welch was Worthy Patron of the Hobbs and Lovington Eastern Star Chapters, Worthy Grand Patron for State of New Mexico and active with the DeMolay and Rainbow Chapters. He also served as a State Officer of IAPES, International Association of Public Employees. Welch ran the DeMolay concession stand at the Shriner Carnivals for several years and cooked many chili dinners at the Hobbs Lodge earning the title of "Chili King." He was a Charter member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and camper. He loved spending time with his family and grandkids, especially at his favorite fishing hole.

Welch is survived by his wife of the home, son; Darwin Joel Morgan and daughter-in-law Jennifer Kruse Morgan of Las Vegas, NV; daughter-in-law Vickie Raper Morgan of Portales, NM; grandchildren Colby Welch Morgan (Stephanie) of Portales, NM; Coresa Morgan Ford (Gary) of Portales, NM; Jared Parker Morgan, of Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren Jared Brian Morgan, Riley Don Ford, Chase David Ford, Aiden Shane Ford, Morgan Beth Ford all of Portales, NM; one niece, one nephew, six great-nephews, one great-niece and two great-great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his eldest son David Welch Morgan; parents; sisters Mary Ruth Morgan, Frances Morgan Moore; two nephews Nolan and Danny Moore; and his brother-in-law N. A. Moore.
