A memorial service for Virginia Nielsen of Hobbs will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Pastor John Dunlap will officiate. Cremation will take place.
Nielsen, 74, died February 24, 2010, at her home in Hobbs. She was born October 16, 1935, in Scott City, Kansas. She married Gilbert Arden Nielsen on July 7, 1972, in Garden City, Kansas.
Virginia moved to Hobbs in 1975. She worked for Hobbs Gas Company for 23 years as a bookkeeper and then for Callaway Furniture.
Survivors include a son, Dave Dunlap and wife Sherry of Lovington, New Mexico two granddaughters, Heather Beard and husband Shawn of Midland, Texas, and Hali Dunlap and companion, Juan Yanez of Lovington, New Mexico a greatgranddaughter, Jayln Yanez of Lovington, New Mexico two sisters, Lona Mae Cramer of Los Banos, California, and Charel Mohler of San Jose, California a brother, David White of Lancaster, Kentucky.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Rayma White her husband a son, Michael Dewayne Dunlap and a sister, Dixie Tobias.
