Funeral service for Virgil R.Ford will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2009, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Minister Mike Kennedy will officiate. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
Visitation will be today from noon - 7 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. until service time at Chapel of Hope, which is in charge of arrangements.
Ford, 78, died December 8, 2009, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born April 13, 1931, in Amherst, Texas.
He married Marie Sage Ford on February 25, 1948, in Maude, Oklahoma.
Virgil owned Frontier Construction from 1967 until his retirement in 1997. He never met a stranger and liked to start a conversation with a joke. He enjoyed watching the Hobbs Eagle basketball games. Virgil was a very selflessman, always considering others first. His greatest love in life was his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Ford of Hobbs; two daughters, Linda Lovelady and husband Gaylon of Hobbs and Kathy Whelpley and husband Tom of Hobbs; one grandson Jason Lovelady and wife Christi of Tequesta, Florida; four granddaughters, Adrianne Lovelady of Dallas, Texas, Dadrianne Callaway and husband Stephen of Hobbs, Daisha Windham and husband Scott of Hobbs, and Chelsea Gerwick and husband Sean of Hobbs; eleven great-grandchildren, James, Piper and Jake Lovelady of Tequesta, Florida, Savannah and Carson Lovelady of Dallas, Texas, Alex Leuschner Callaway and Cash Callaway of Hobbs, Morgan and Mason Windham of Hobbs and Cutter and Canyon Gerwick of Hobbs.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Zora and Anderson Ernie Ford, three brothers and one sister.
