Funeral service for LaVerna Weda Spray, 85, of Hobbs, will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012, at Prairie Haven Chapel with pastor Benny Greenlee officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 6 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. noon Monday at Chapel of Hope.
Spray died January 19, 2012, at Lea Regional Medical Center. She was born March 4, 1926, in Hamilton, Texas. She married Loyd Spray who preceded her in death.
Weda had a very strong faith in God, loved her church and spent much of her time working with the youth. She has read the Bible 12 times and was working on the 13th. Weda loved to travel. She and her husband drove over a million miles in their travels.
Weda was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include grandson Loyd J. Spray, Jr. and wife Melissa, of Norman, OK granddaughter, Lisa Miller, and husband Paul, of Wymore, NE six greatgranddaughters and one greatgrandson and her best friend and care giver, Janice Carthel of Hobbs.
Weda was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd Spray son, Loyd James Spray grandson, Michael Spray seven brothers and four sisters.
