Tyson Regan

Tyson Joseph Regan, 49, of Hobbs, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018 at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock, Texas. He had been hospitalized since June 26th in Hobbs and then airlifted to Lubbock on July 2, 2018. He passed away from complications of pneumonia.

Tyson was welcomed into the world on June 25, 1969, in Tucson, Arizona to James Lawrence and Gladys Louise Regan. Tyson moved to Hobbs in 1980 at the age of 11 years old. He attended Jefferson Elementary, Heizer Jr. High, and Hobbs High School. He had an after-school job at Furr's Grocery and Skaggs Alpha Beta to pay for his motorcycle that he rode to school and work. He received an award for being the youngest rider at Aspencade Motorcycle Rally in Ruidoso, NM. Tyson loved water, skiing, fishing, hunting, hanging out with his friends and had a fascination with sharks.... He wanted to become a Navy Seal and then a forest ranger. At the age of 17, Tyson broke his neck and suffered spinal cord injuries on a river rafting trip in Big Bend, which left him a paraplegic.

He went to Craig, a world -renowned rehabilitation hospital in Denver, Colorado where they teach people affected by paralysis how to live independent lives. While there, he was taken to his first NFL football game, it was there that his love for the Denver Broncos and John Elway started.

Over the past 31 years, despite being in a wheelchair, Tyson enjoyed a full life. He loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed listening to music and taught himself to play guitar. He shared his knowledge of playing guitar and taught many others to play. Tyson enjoyed riding his ATV and motorcycle. He was an avid gun collector and worked at Garner's Exchange with Robert, Jr.

Tyson was a kind and gentle person with a big heart - always wanting to help others in need. He felt it was important to donate to FEED THE CHILDREN. He loved his dogs, Ellie and Toby, who were adopted from the Humane Society.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Lawrence Regan, his grandparents, Henry Joseph Baxter, Olga Mae Baxter, Lawrence James Regan, Julia Regan, and Thelma Heyse.

He is survived by his mother, Gladys Regan, sister Robbie (Robert) Garner, brothers Troy Regan and Todd (Rosie) Regan, sister Jamie (Roger) Donenfeld, step father Michael Buford, nieces Sheena Garner, Taylor Regan, Katie Donenfeld, Jacquelynne Regan, Juliet Donenfeld, nephews James Regan, Trey Regan, Tyler Regan, Nicky Regan, Seth Regan, Jacob Donenfeld, Christopher Love, and Stephen Love. He is also survived by his aunts Patricia Regan Nuttall of Fresno, CA, Donna Doolittle and Linda Navarette of Hobbs, Sherri (Charlie) of Lovington, and Andrea Baxter of Las Cruces and his numerous cousins.

A very special thank you to his mother, Gladys for taking such amazing, selfless care of Tyson with no regard to her own life, he was her life. She made the greatest sacrifice to bless her son so it's not a surprise that she was holding his hand and whispering to Tyson, that it would be ok to go ahead and go with Jehovah, that she would be fine and would see him again.

He loved his family and friends, and they loved him.
