Funeral services for Tony Greene will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012, at Jefferson Street Church of Christ in Hobbs with internment following at Prairie Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 46 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the Chapel of Hope Funeral Home. Tony passed away April 6, 2012, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was born June 27, 1978, in Plainview, Texas to Alice Greene. Tony attended school in Hobbs, New Mexico, through his junior year and then graduated from Big Spring High School in 1996. After graduation, Tony enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended its nuclear power school until his discharge. He found his calling after taking CAD classes at New Mexico Junior College. He worked in the CAD department and then later as a roof observer for Crenshaw Consulting Group for several years. At the time of his death he worked for Benchmark, Inc. as roofing field consultant. In April, 2011, he began dating Shellie Davidson, who brought an extra spark to his life. He instantly became a part of her family, and they were planning to be married in July.
Tony is survived by his mom, Alice Greene of Stephenville, Texas brother Curtis Tina Angel sisters, Brandy DeLarosa and Kathy Carter, all of Hobbs. He is also survived by his fiance, Shellie inlaws, Doug and Debbie Davidson, Daniel Syndi Dominguez, all of Hobbs, and Kerry Samantha Miller of Merkel, Texas. His nieces and nephews, Amanda Clayton Brumley, C.J. Brittney Angel, Tiffany Angel, Carolyn DeLarosa, Christopher McCoy, Ema, Eli, Elena and Everet Dominguez will miss him greatly. He is also survived by his father, Wayne Greene of Moffat, Colorado, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, special cousin Kennith Angel, brother, Robert Angel and nephew, Baby Angel as well as numerous other family members.
Tony was a member at the Jefferson Street Church of Christ and was active in serving and helping anyone he could. Those who surrounded him were blessed by his sense of humor and his caring heart. He was not afraid to laugh at himself or with others. Tony thoroughly enjoyed football and was a devoted fan of the Houston Texans. He was a talented cook, practical joker, computer whiz, wannabe card shark, and an amateur but improving golfer. He loved to spend time outdoors hunting, fishing, boating, and floating the river. Tony also touched many lives through the Palmer Drug Abuse Program and his legacy and light have touched many hearts through the years. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family there who, through it all, loved and cared for him.
