A dear, precious, and beautiful flower of life to her family was born January 20, 1930 in the small town of Perryton, TX. This precious beauty went to meet her Lord and Savior on her birthday, January 20, 2019. She was the daughter of Lola Mae Weldon and John Thomas (JT) Weldon. She later moved with her family to Lubbock, TX where she graduated Lubbock High School; met and married the love of her life, Harrold Shaw, seventy years ago November 24, 1948.
Tommy was an avid bridge player, playing up to three times a week. She was a member of Oil Wives, taught Sunday School and sang in the TMBC choir. She taught English as a Second Language, and had an extremely creative knack for writing. She was notorious for her wit and humor, demonstrated through her dinner theatre skits which had everyone in hysterical stitches. Tommy loved to laugh and her laughter was a contagious gift she delightfully offered to all those around her. Tommy loved bold, bright, and rich colors. She loved to wear and also decorate in bold blues, greens, orange, and yellow. Anyone that walked into Tommy and Harrold's home was embraced with the warmth of gracious hospitality and surrounded with beauty.
The Bible was Tommy's instruction book for the way she lived her life. She showered Harrold and her sons Barry, Randy, Danny, and Ben with unconditional love, laughter, a firm hand, and a passionate zest for life. Tommy poured out a generous helping of love, humor, and compassion to her family, grandchildren, and friends. Tommy didn't know a stranger.
Tommy has a deep personal relationship with Jesus, and is probably standing alongside a choir of her loved ones singing songs of praise and adoration to the One who blessed her with abundant and everlasting life.
We will see you shortly, Tommy!
Tommy is survived by her brother Donald Weldon and family of Bristol, TX, and sister Emma Lee Rogers and daughter of Dallas, TX, Tommy's husband, Harrold E. Shaw along with her four sons and their families - Barry of Las Cruces, NM, Randy of Tularosa, NM, Danny of Nashville, TN, and Ben of Hobbs, NM.
