Tommy Jay Haisten, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away in his home
with his loved ones at his side, at the age of 74, in Hobbs, New Mexico. Tom was born
October 2, 1939 in Clayton, New Mexico to L.H. and Oneta Haisten.
Tom worked in the oilfield for 52 years, in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Louisiana and
New Mexico. A guitarist and vocalist, he was a member of the Right Field Band and played
at numerous community activities and nursing homes. He served communion to those
unable to attend church. He was a kind and giving man who touched so many hearts.
He will be missed by so many. His life revolved around Church, family, friends and his music.
Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gail Haisten son Bill Haisten of Tulsa, Oklahoma, son Bob Haisten and his wife Darlene Haisten of Hobbs, New Mexico and son Doug Haisten of Hobbs brother Leon Haisten and his wife Linda Haisten of San Antonio, Texas and brother L.R. Haisten of Logan, New Mexico granddaughters Shyanne Haisten and Bailey Haisten of Hobbs grandsons Tyler Haisten of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Matthew Chapman of Alvarado, Texas plus numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his father and mother, four sisters, and one brother.
A celebration of his life will be held at First Christian Church, 305 W. Alston Hobbs, New Mexico Tuesday August 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest at a later date in Clayton, New Mexico with his family.
