Christopher “Todd” Bailey:
Todd Bailey was born on July 4, 1972 and passed on October 31, 2021. He was a 1990 HHS Graduate, 1993 NMJC Graduate, and 1996 ENMU Graduate. Todd started his career at the Hobbs News Sun in 1997. In July 2002, he left Hobbs to work at the Santa Fe New Mexican. He decided to try something new by becoming a section editor at the Houston Chronicle in 2008. From there, he worked on Kirtland AFB as the editor of Nucleus. Hobbs saw Todd’s return in 2012 as the HNS Managing Editor, and 2013-October 31,2021 he was the HNS Editor. This guy was a man of many hats and accomplishments including Eagle Boy Scout, young journalist mentor, multi award winner of NM Press Association, softball coach, and St Helena School Board Member and President. Todd was the loving son of Cecilia Bailey of Albuquerque, supportive brother of Danielle R. (Bailey) McCrary and Col Daniel C. McCrary (USAF) of O’Fallon, IL, the proud uncle of Akemi E. McCrary of O’Fallon, IL, and fun-loving cousin and nephew of many Sandovals and Baileys throughout northern NM, CA, OK, and TX. Though he never married and had no children of his own, Todd Bailey was also: parental role model to Cameron, Spencer, Zane and Zia; honorary uncle to: Ariana, Eric, Gabby, Phil, Alex, JJ, Pete, Lili, Addison, Trey, Miranda G, and Miranda M.; honorary brother to Elisa and Scott Milligan, Dora and Raul Gonzales Jr, Philip and Frances Perez, Benji and Tweety Perez, Veronica Perez, Greg and Liz Lopez and Nikki Lopez; and selfless friend of many. Ray D. Bailey Sr (father), and Ray D. Bailey Jr (brother) preceded Todd in death. He is survived by Cecilia (mom), Danielle (sister), Daniel (brother-in-law), Akemi (Niece), and many relatives. Memorial services in Albuquerque and Hobbs will be determined at a later date. Instead of flowers, Todd asks for financial donations to the Boy Scouts of America and St. Helena Parochial School in Hobbs. BOOMER SOONERS!!!
