alignjustifyFuneral services for Tommy Mapp of Hobbs, New Mexico, formerly of Pasadena, Texas, will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with Minister Clay Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery:

alignjustifyVisitation is 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Chapel of Hope with the family in attendance from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.

alignjustifyArrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

alignjustifyMr. Mapp, 80, died March 1, 2009, at Hobbs Health Care Center in Hobbs, New Mexico. He was born November 28, 1928, in Ardmore, Oklahoma.

alignjustifyTommy was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and raised in Monument, New Mexico. During his school years, he played football and basketball for the Monument Indians. He was also voted most handsome in high school. He graduated from Monument High School in 1947. He worked for BF Walker for many years in Hobbs and then moved to Pasadena, Texas, and retired from Brown and Root in the '90s as a heavy equipment operator. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.

alignjustifySurvivors include his sisters, Dorthy Kimery of Lubbock, Texas, Kathlene Phillips of Van Alstyne, Texas, and Joy Bullock of Denver City, Texas; a brother, Kenneth Mapp of Hobbs, New Mexico; his sisters, Glenda Godwin of Iowa Park, Texas, and Peggy Chanley of Roswell, New Mexico; and Karen Good of Crumb, Texas; a brother, Doyle Mapp of Hobbs, New Mexico; his sisters, Debbie Harris of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Darlene Pearson of Hobbs, New Mexico; a daughter, Gladys Stokes of Crumb, Texas; a son Rodney Mapp of Crumb, Texas; two daughters, Linda Cameron of Monument, New Mexico, and Pam Miller of Newalla, Oklahoma; a son, Thomas Laverne Mapp Jr. of Gainsville, Texas; and a stepson, Bryant Wilson of Pasadena, Texas.

alignjustifyTommy was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Gladys Geneva Mapp; a brother, James William Mapp; and his wife, Helen Mapp.
