Terry Owen

April 10, 1942 — May 17, 2015

Terry Lee Owen passed on to be with his Lord, May 17, 2015 at 7:50 pm. Born April 10, 1942, in Hobbs, New Mexico, Terry was the son of JT and Jewel Owen of Hobbs, New Mexico.

He married Vera Mae Gassaway on July 31, 1975 and raised their family in Hobbs. He worked for Hess Corporation at the Seminole Gas Processing Plant for 26 years contracted through Ref-Chem. Terry was a lover of nature and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and exploring through the Guadalupe Mountains. He was a jokester and a magician. Many will remember him as the man who could float a dollar bill in thin air; he always marveled in their wonderment and found joy with people. He always opened his home to family, friends, and strangers inviting them to come out and catch fish in the front yard pond. Terry also enjoyed spending time with family and playing cards.

He is survived by his brother, Steve Owen and his wife, Bernice of Carthage, TX; sister, Brenda Dyer, of Hobbs; son, Jack Owen and his wife, Timmi of Denver City, TX; daughter Amanda Weathers and husband Neil of Lubbock, TX; and daughter Belinda Owen and spouse Philip Strassle of Houston, TX. Terry is also survived by his Uncle Duane and Aunt Kay Larson of, Dayton, Nevada. Terry was grandfather to seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Nancy Owen; and grandson Sean Dalton.
