Ted Harshbarger passed away January 3, 2022. He was 89 years old. He was born on July 14, 1932, in Sadler, Texas to B.F. and Flora Harshbarger.
Ted attended school at Sadler, Texas. He started working in the peanut, hay and cotton fields at an early age. He worked for Denard Feed and Supply Store. He also worked as a roustabout in the oil field at Snyder, Henriatta, Whitesboro and Saint Jo, Texas.
Ted married Vella Scoggin on October 22, 1957, at the Church of Christ in Whitesboro, Texas. They were married over 64 years.
Ted served in the Army 8th Infantry Div. in Colorado and 18 months in Germany, then 4 years in the Reserves. He loved this country and served it well.
He went to work for El Paso Natural Gas at Monument, NM on September 22, 1959, and he retired on April 1, 1991.
He enjoyed going to the Senior Center to visit friends and play games. He also enjoyed rodeos, ropings, welding, and helping friends brand cattle. He was always ready to help if there was a need.
He loved God and served him in many ways. He believed God should always come first. He sat with many friends and loved ones in hospitals or carried them to doctors and hospitals in Hobbs, Lubbock, Midland or Odessa.
He had been a member of the Church of Christ for over 60 years.
He was an active member of the Republican Party until his illness.
He is survived by his wife Vella, a brother Allen Harshbarger and wife Carol of Whitesboro, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents B.F. and Flora Harshbarger, 5 sisters Tootie, Fouratt, Betty Harshbarger, Helen Wright, Mildred Blevins, Genny McClenden and 1 brother Ben Harshbarger.
