Hobbs

Spencer Kent Emrick, age 64, of Hobbs, NM passed away on December 15, 2024. He was born January 24, 1960, in Hobbs, NM to Charles Kent and Patricia Emrick.

Spencer spent his life as a devoted employee of Rotary Wireline Services for 44 years, where he worked various positions from rigger, operator, and office manager. He was known in the Permian Basin as one of the best pipe recovery operators available.

Spencer was a devoted family man, who loved providing and taking care of his family above all else. He was a beloved husband to his wife of 44 years, Penny Emrick, and a cherished father to Jason Emrick and D’Lisa Edwards. More than anything, he was the World’s Greatest Papa to grandchildren Keaton and Braxton Emrick, and Corey and Aaron Edwards.

Following his father’s involvement in the Masonic Lodge, Spencer started in his teen years participating with DeMolay. He then preceded to stay involved with Masonic Lodge #63, of Hobbs, NM, working his way up to Master of Lodge in 2000. He also devoted his time to the Ballut Abyad Shriners of NM, and Organization of Eastern Star, Bethany Chapter No. 56.

His favorite hobbies were to collect guns, travel, and fishing. What brought him the greatest joy was pestering his grandchildren and posting Facebook memes for everybody else. He loved to see people smile and have a good time.

Spencer is survived by his loving wife, Penny Emrick, son, Jason (Amber) Emrick of Hobbs, NM, daughter D’Lisa (Bobby) Edwards of Livingston, TX, grandchildren Keaton (Preston White) and Braxton Emrick of Hobbs, NM and Corey and Aaron Edwards of Livingston, TX. He also leaves behind brother Alan (LaDon) Emrick of Teague, TX, sisters Carolyn (Dale) Honeyfield of Los Lunas, NM and Cindy Cameron of Naples, TX, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles Kent and Patricia Emrick, nephew Austin Presley, and great-nephew Kinsler Roach.

Spencer will be deeply missed, but we will cherish all the memories and laughs we were blessed to have over the years.
