On July 1, 1935 a second son was born to Herman S. and Lois Levy at All
Saints Episcopal Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas. The family moved to
Hobbs within a few weeks of his birth and Hobbs has been the Levy Family
home place since then.
Sim H. "Bubba" Levy, long time resident and businessman of Hobbs, passed
on to his eternal home on January 11, 2019. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Herman & Lois Levy; a very close uncle and aunt, Sim B. and Mary
Levy; son, Sanford Cee Levy; and a great granddaughter, Sierra Colvin.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bilberry Levy; brother, Herman "Mike"
Levy, sister in law Sarah "Mickey" Levy; son, Sim Hampton Levy Jr. and
wife Debbie; daughter, Charlotta Levy Stewart and husband Greg;
grandsons Douglas Levy and Brad Stewart; granddaughters Crystal Levy
Portillo, Suzanne Levy Colvin, Farrah Stewart Cuellar, Tamra Stewart
Thatcher, Simeon Levy Arana, and Vanessa Levy Romero; 11 "Great"
grandchildren and 2 "Great, Great" grandchildren; 2 nieces and 4 nephews.
Sim loved his family and friends. He had such a zest for life. Even in the
face of much physical adversity, over his 83 years he has had some exciting
hobbies. When he was a very young man he did such things as building a
plane... and flying it! He raced cars and motorcycles; enjoyed his boats and
fishing; loved to play tennis; was a creative woodworker; enjoyed drafting,
building, photography, and beating his brother and friends at cards and
games. He played hard and he worked hard. The years at his business,
"Sim's Cycle Sales", was so rewarding to him because it combined his love
of cycling with his joy of working with people. His beloved "Bride" of 66
years stood by his side through all his "projects" and still called him her
"knight in shining armor". From the time he was a youngster he loved
animals of all kinds, especially dogs and cats and seemed to always have a
few on hand to spoil. The best job he ever had was being "Daddy" to
Hampton, Charlotta, and Sanford and Granddad and Papa to his
grandchildren. They were his ray of sunshine.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude's Children‘s Hospital,
St. Christopher's Episcopal Church (Hobbs), or The Western Heritage
