Silvestre Chavez

Silvestre Beto Chavez, 78, died Dec. 14, 2006, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born Dec. 31, 1929 in Stanton, Texas. He married Isabel Chavez on. Sept. 16, 1952, in Hobbs, NM.

Beto worked for the City of Hobbs for many years. He loved to work with his hands and enjoyed fishing, traveling and the mountains. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church.

Survivors include a son, Mario Chavez of Hobbs, N.M.; two daughters, Virginia Costin of Hobbs, N.M., and Tanya Enriqez of Hobbs, N.M.; three brothers; one sister; eight grandchildren; and 13 greatshy;-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; Isabel, in 2001 and five brothers and sisters.
