Shirley Fay Williams was born on January 3, 1936, in Lubbock, TX to Sam and Marthie Floyd. She had one sister, Dottie Floyd Lowrey who preceded her in death. She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1953 and then attended McMurry College in Abilene, TX where she met the love of her life, Jimmy Williams. Shirley and Jimmy married in 1954 in Lamesa, TX. In 2004, they moved to Hobbs, NM where they joined First United Methodist Church. She was a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Odessa, TX, and in Monahans, TX.
Shirley was a beloved wife, mom, and Mamaw. She loved all her grandkids (and greats and great-greats) like they were just the best kids ever made. After a long struggle with Covid, she passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus surrounded by her family on November 28, 2021. She was dearly loved, and her family is comforted that she is with her Savior.
Shirley’s survivors include her husband, Jimmy; beloved sons: Sammy and his wife, Carolyn; Shon and his wife, Ann; seven grandchildren: Stacy, Rebecca, Robert, Deborah, Gayle, Shelly, and Daniel; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by one great-grandchild and one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, Shirley requested donations be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch in Amarillo, TX.
