Shirley Switzer

December 22, 1938 — January 2, 2013

Funeral services for Shirley Sue Hammond Switzer, 74, of Hobbs, will be 2:00 Friday, January 4, 2013, at Chapel of Hope with Pastor Brad Reimers officiating and assisted by Pastors Mick Cavenaugh and Jay Carey. Shirley died January 2, 2013, at her home in Hobbs. She was born December 22, 1938, in Olney, TX, to Cyrus and Arie Hammond. She married C. H. Switzer, May 23, 1976, in Hobbs, NM. She was a member of Crosswinds Church.

Shirley went all 12 years of school in Hobbs. She was active in PTA as long as her children were in school and was also active in the Humane Society. Shirley played 6 musical instruments well and several others some. She started playing for church when she was 10 and played for 45 years for different Baptist churches. Music was her love. Shirley went to Sherwood Music School and received a certificate to teach. She was purchasing Manager for Unichem in Hobbs for 29 years.

Surviving Shirley is her husband, C. H. Switzer, of Hobbs daughter, Shanda Woodruff, and husband Wendell, of Hobbs, sons, Randy Cartwright, and wife Coco, of Odessa and Shane Cartwright, and wife Heidi, of Pennsylvania stepson, Ricky Switzer, and wife Sharon, of Clovis and stepdaughters, Debbie Nippert, and husband Dave, of Clovis and Karla Gibson and Joe of Amarillo 11 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren and her sister, Jelene Epperson.

Preceding her in death were her parents, twin brothers, Wendell and Weldon Hammond and grandson, Jason Cartwright.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society, 702 N. Grimes, Hobbs, NM 88240 or the ASPCA or any other organization helping animals.
