Shirley Deane Lawson, 72, of Hobbs, New Mexico, died March 8, 2009, in Hobbs. She was born December 1, 1936, in Snomac, Oklahoma. She married Grover Allen Lawson Jr. in 1958 in Brownfield, Texas.

alignjustifyMrs. Lawson moved to Hobbs, New Mexico, in 1958, working as a sales person at Norman Fee's for over seven years. She was a member of the VFW, American Legion and the Eagles. She was a member of Taylor St. Church of Christ and loved to read and crochet.

alignjustifySurvivors include two stepsons, Monty Lawson of Eakly, Oklahoma, and Grover Allen Lawson and wife Judy of Shawnee, Oklahoma, a stepdaughter, Janice Brunsfield and husband Frank of Spring, Texas; a brother-in-law, George Lawson and wife Doris of Topeka, Kansas; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

alignjustifyShe was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Clarence Hankins and Mildred Williams; her brother, Edward Lee Hankins; and her husband, Grover Allen Lawson Jr. in 2007.
