Salvador Duarte

Funeral services for Salvador O. Duarte, 65, of Hobbs, will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2011, at Temple Baptist Church with Pastor LaVoid Ford officiating. Interment will be after services at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday 8 a.m. 6 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. until noon at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Salvador died January 24, 2011, at his home in Hobbs. He was born September 1, 1945, in Barstow, Texas, to Salvador and Jesus Duarte. He married Lucy Duarte September 18, 1963, in Carlsbad, NM.

Its hard to write a paragraph about a person we could all write a novel about. Each of us share so many good memories about our dad.

He was a loving, hardworking, provider, who enjoyed life and was content to be with his family. Dad always showed each one of us how much he cared, whether it was a phone call or a smile. Throughout the years, the boys broke many windows by playing ball in the yard, but our dad just replaced them time and time again he enjoyed watching his kids and his grandkids play ball. Another memory we all share of childhood is the special treat we would get on payday donuts and chocolate milk. Yum

Dad always wore a smirk or a smile on his face because of his joking manner and joyful spirit. He also enjoyed nicknaming everyone, names that stuck for a lifetime like Peewee. Dad also liked sitting in the sun, taking care of his animals and taking walks with his kids and grandkids.

Mu dad would have done anything for his family. He supported us in every endeavor, encouraging us to fulfill our dreams and through it all he never judged us if we failed. His spirit lives on in each one of us and it shows in many traits of our personalities.

We will always love you dad. You will live in our hearts.

Salvador is survived by his wife, seven sons, four daughters, eight brothers, three sisters, 33 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters and one greatgreatgrandson, Anthony Flores, Jr.
