Mr. Plato, 86, died Oct. 1, 2006, in Roswell, N.M. He was born May 16, 1920, in Pampa, Texas. He married Vivian H. Plato.
Mr. Plato moved to Hobbs in 1945. After serving three years, nine months and 21 days in World War II in the South Pacific, he started as a roughshy;neck in the oil business. When retired, Mr. Plato was owner and president of Drilling Consultants Inc. and VP Rentals.
Mr. Plato worked in the oil business from 1945-1985; retirshy;ing in 1985. He worked a numshy;ber of years overseas including Brazil, Japan, Australia, Guam, Taiwan, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Scotland, Venezuela, Hong Kong, and the Philippines. He formed a consulting corporation in 1975.
Mr. Plato was a lifetime memshy;ber of Hobbs Masonic Lodge No. 63 and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a lifetime member of the VFW
Survivors include a son, Rocky V. Plato of Roswell, N.M.; two daughters, Ruth Ann Pruett of Hobbs,N.M., and Roxie Jean Shields of Amarillo, Texas; a brother, A.A. Plato of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Wanda Luevano of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandshy;children; and 11 great-grandshy;children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Nettie Plato; his wife, Vivian H. Plato on Feb. 4, 2000; and a brother Leon Plato.
