A funeral service for Ruth Naomi Cleveland of Hobbs will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2009, at Prairie Haven Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. Terry Baker, grandson, will officiate. Burial will take place after services at Prairie Haven. Visitation is Tuesday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cleveland, 94, of Hobbs died Saturday, December 12, 2009, at Desert Gardens of Hobbs. She was born March 13, 1915, in Greenwood, Arkansas.
She married William Glendon Cleveland in 1931, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cleveland worked as a seamstress at Anthony's and Hobbs Cleaners for many years. She loved spending time with her family, cooking, gardening and sewing. She was the epitome of the words: grace and lady.
She attended the Church of Christ.
Survivors include the son, Joe Cleveland and wife Joyce of Hobbs; three daughters Beverly Floyd and husband Clayton of Hobbs, June Baker and husband Floyd of Sacramento, California, and Glenda Toops of Hobbs; grandchildren Dana Cleveland of Hobbs, Mark Cleveland of Hobbs, Christie Naylor of Monument, Lynn Cleveland of Hobbs, Terry Baker of Arlington, Texas, Leslie McKeown of Rancho Cordova, California, Darren and Dion Randall of Farmington, New Mexico, Jodie Maestas of Gallina, New Mexico, Tonia Verret of Albuquerque, Joni Odum of San Clemente, California, Kenny Toops of Canyon Country, California, and Jim Toops of Hobbs, 37 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Beulah Lowe; her husband William G. Cleveland; two sons, Larry and Leslie Cleveland, grandson Joe David Cleveland; great-great-grandson Dominic Randall; one brother and five sisters.
