Royce Lynn Eades, 67, of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away after his valiant, courageous two year battle with cancer on January 24, 2015, at his home and surrounded by his loving family.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday, January 30, 2015, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home in Hobbs with Reverend Jay Jones of St. Paul's Methodist Church officiating.
Royce was born in Snyder, Texas, on June 9, 1947, to Benjamin Franklin and Clair Elizabeth Eades. He married Carolyn Wall Evans on November 19, 1983, in Odessa, Texas, where they lived for the next seven and a half years before moving back to Hobbs where they have remained as residents for more than 23 years.
Royce graduated from Hobbs High School with the Class of 1965. He furthered his studies, primarily in Engineering, at both New Mexico Junior College and New Mexico State University. He had a successful career in the oil and gas industry beginning at BJ Services, moving to Schlumberger and finally working as a Wellsite Consultant for the past 11 years, most recently with Cimarex.
Royce was involved in the Hobbs Chamber of Commerce from 1995 to 2001 and served as Chamber President from 1999 to 2000.
Royce is preceded in death by his parents.
Royce is survived by his spouse, Carolyn Wall Eades, son Eric Eades, daughter Julie Childers and spouse Glenn Childers, daughter Kary Bailey, son Robert Evans, son Todd Evans, sister Janice Jones and spouse Jack Jones, nephew Brian Jones, grandchildren Noah Leewright, Kaylee Leewright, Austin Bailey and Dystani Bailey.
