Royce L. Carmack, 77, finished his work here and Jesus has called him home on October 12, 2016. Royce was born on October 26, 1938, in Eunice, NM, to Melvin and Irene Carmack. He graduated from Eunice High School in May, 1956. After high school, he worked for the Lea Theater and Star Drive-In running the projectors. When C. C. Caldwell built the bowling alley, he sent Royce to Chicago for schooling in maintaining the bowling alley equipment. He served in the U.S. Army including a tour of duty in Germany in the early 1960's. In 1967, he went to work for Warren Petroleum and retired in 1992 as a shift supervisor.
He married Linda Jones on December 31, 1976. They toured much of the United States sightseeing and meeting famous people, including Roy Rogers. Big Bend National Park was one of their favorite trips.
Royce was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eunice. He and Linda really enjoyed going to the senior center for lunch and to visit with others. The staff held a special place in his heart.
Survivors include his wife Linda, brother Dwayne and Jennie Carmack of Eunice, sisters Linda and Gary Johnson of Eunice, Jan and Rex Busby of Brownwood, TX, and Joyce and Kenneth Barham of Paragould, AR. Numerous nieces and nephews and cousins also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents.
