Roy G. Davis, age 91, went to his heavenly home to be with the Lord on March 14, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was a devoted Christian who taught his family to find strength in Christ and to lead lives devoted to the Lord.
Roy was born to the late Claude and Pearl Davis in Lymon, Oklahoma on July 9, 1925. He attended school in Oklahoma and Kansas before enlisting in the United States Navy. He valiantly served our nation during World War II as a gunner aboard the USS Robinson before his honorable discharge in 1946.
Mr. Davis married the love of his life, Mary Dunlap, on February 15, 1946 in Scott City, Kansas. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before Mary's death in 1999. Roy was a caring father and devoted his life to making his two daughters, Terri and Toni, feel loved and cared for.
Roy spent his life working hard and providing for his family. He worked decades in the oilfields of Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico before retiring from NipCo many years ago.
Roy is survived by his two daughters, Terri Henderson (Daryl) and Toni Sullivan (Roy) of Hobbs, New Mexico; a special friend, Nellie Haarmeyer; a brother, Richard Davis of Mesa, Arizona; a sister-in-law, Betty Allen of Mansfield, Texas; and his four grandsons of whom he was very proud of, Robert Houston (Dee), Brian Houston (Sherry), and Joe Purvis Jr. (Kathy), all of Hobbs, and Josh Purvis (Rachel) of Edwards AFB, California. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and two great-great grandsons. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary, his parents, and five siblings.
