In loving memory of Ronzo Jean Lambert, Ron passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 10, 2022.
Ron is survived by his wife of 43 years Darlene Lambert, his sons Raymond Lambert, and Stephen Eric
Douglass.
Ron was born on January 25, 1941, on his father’s farm in Carter County Tennessee. He was the 6th child
of Della and Joe Lambert. He attended school in Elizabethton Tennessee where he was a member of the
baseball, basketball, and football teams. As the first member of his family to attend college, he attended
East Tennessee State University for a year until an injury ended his baseball career.
He left school, joined the Air force, and spent time in several countries including Korea and Greenland.
He married his first wife Charlotte Fair, and their son Raymond was born in 1964.
He came to Hobbs for work and met and married his current wife in 1979 and they have enjoyed forty-three happy years together. He spent 20 years as a letter carrier with the post office until his retirement.
He then found a passion for coaching and began to coach basketball at several institutions including,
NMJC, several junior high schools and high school at Eunice. He coached both boys and girls and enjoyed
both experiences very much.
He loved all sports, but especially baseball and golf. He also had an affinity for western movies and
books and all things authentically cowboy.
