Roberto Vasquez Mendias, Jr., passed away on Monday April 1st, 2024, in Hobbs NM.
He was born in Marfa, TX on January 20, 1944, to Roberto Mendias Sr and Michaela Vasquez Mendias. Robert was raised in Pecos, TX, he was an avid musician and bass player in Pecos’s Adolfo Band. He also served as a Church Choir Member and Director in both Pecos and Lampasas, TX for many years. Over the years he worked as a warehouse employee for Winn-Dixie and a delivery truck driver for Coca-Cola, Miss Baird's, and the US postal Service before Retiring. He was a devoted Catholic and a Proud Parishioner of Saint Mary's in Lampasas, TX and St. Helenas in Hobbs, NM becoming a Crusillista, ACTS Member, Baptismal Catechist, and a member of the Movimento Familiar Cristiano.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents “Leo” and “Mickey” and his sister Yolanda Mendias.
He is survived by his wife Soledad Mendias, his son John Robert Mendias of Cleburne, TX and his wife Maria, his daughters; Janie Zuniga of Odessa ,TX and her husband Gayland, Jamie Myers of Houston, TX and her husband Eddie, Maricella Maledon of Pecos, TX and her husband Cody, Angelica Martinez of Hobbs, NM and her husband Roberto, Micaela Mendias of El Paso, TX, 22 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and his siblings; Sylvia Looper and her husband Jim, Yvonne Looper and her husband George, John Victor Mendias, Lisa Raifsnider and her husband Scott.
Robert “Bobby” Mendias will truly be missed. May he Rest in Peace.
