Funeral services for Robert H. Bob Ott, of Hobbs, New Mexico will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2011, at the Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with Rev. Darren Skinner officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 6 p.m. Sunday at Chapel of Hope. Family will greet friends 4 6 p.m. at Chapel of Hope.
He passed away February 10, 2011, at Lea Regional Hospital, Hobbs, New Mexico. Bob was born December 12, 1920, in Grandfalls, TX, to Herman and Annie Murray Ott. He married Henry Etta Moss on November 21, 1947, and they spent 63 happy years together.
Bob served in the US Navy during WWII and spent time in the Aleutians and the South Pacific. He worked for Mobil Pipe Line Company for 37 years and retired in Midland, TX, March 31, 1984, as Area Electrical Supervisor. During his years with Mobil, he worked in Brownfield, TX, Electra, TX, Wichita Falls, TX, and Hobbs, New Mexico.
His hobbies included golf, hunting, fishing and traveling. He loved going to Gunnison, CO, and fishing for trout on the Blue Mesa. He also spent parts of many summers in Ruidoso, NM.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW and the Good Sam Travel Club.
Survivors include his wife, Henry Etta Ott one sister, Iva Weston and husband, Stanley, of Marble Falls, TX: a sisterinlaw, Shirley Ott of Midland, TX four neices and two nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bud and Fred Ott and a sister, Christine Ott Tucker.
