Beloved community member Robert “Bob” Leibel was called home to the Lord on November 9th, after a brief illness. Bob was born in Mobridge, South Dakota, and grew up on a farm in Glencross, SD. After high school, he honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device. He earned Expert Badge (M16 rifle) and Marksman Badge (M14 rifle).
After his military service, Bob returned home to South Dakota and worked for a veterinarian specializing in large farm animals. He later moved to Augusta, Montana, where he was a cowboy on two large ranches for 10 years. Following his years in Montana, his brother encouraged Bob to join him in the oil field industry in the Permian Basin. Bob truly was a jack of all trades. He could fix anything and everything, and was happy to help out whenever called on by friends, family, neighbors, and acquaintances. His wide range of interests ran the gambit from the bowling alley to the river to the woods to the gun range. Bob loved and cared for, not only his family, but his community as well by participating in many civic organizations. His long-lasting passion was trap shooting. Bob was known at the trap range, not just for his marksmanship, but also his leadership, friendship, and mentorship.
Bob is survived by his wife, Gladys Swisher; his children Kenny Leibel (Melanie), Kevin Leibel, and Kimberly Leibel; his siblings Tony Leibel (Cathy), Marion Janas (Doug), Merle Leibel (Renee), and Ronnie Leibel (Joann); grandchildren Shanell Houge, Alexis Johnson (Alex), Laine Houge, Ashley Leibel,Jessica Tolten, Kaia Chambers, Saharra Chambers, and Jazlin Chambers; and many nieces, nephews, great--nieces and great-nephews. He is pre-deceased by his parents Anton and Frances Leibel; siblings Larry Leibel and Jane Leibel; nephew Patrick Leibel, and great-nephew Jayton Moroney.
