Richard D. Williams of Hobbs, NM has passed on from this life at the age of 77. After a two-year battle with cancer, Richard succumbed to the illness on September 28, 2024, while at home with many family members at his side.
Richard was born on April 24, 1947, in Stockton, CA, to Leo and Dell Williams. After graduating high school in Lovington, New Mexico, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he was stationed on the U.S.S. Constellation, which included two tours to Vietnam and traveling across the globe. Shortly after serving his country, he met Barbara Ford who would soon be his lifelong wife of 54 years. Richard hauled freight and climbed radio towers for a brief time before starting a career with Amoco Oil Company whom he retired from in 1997. After a couple of years of spending time at home, he started his second career with Border States Electric where he spent another 15 years working.
Richard is survived by his wife Barbara Williams, his daughter Camille Rosalez and spouse Susan of Weslaco, Texas, a son Heath Williams and spouse Francine of Hobbs, New Mexico, a brother Mike Williams and spouse Linda of Magnolia, Texas, a sister Laura Williams of Honolulu, Hawaii, four grandkids and four great-grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Danny Williams, his mother and father-in-law, Tommy, and Lou Ford.
