Richard Noel Robinson also known as R.N., Robby, Dickie, Red, and Fath passed away June 9, 2011, in Hobbs, NM. Robby was born October 19, 1924, in Tulia, TX, attended school in Jayton, TX, and graduated high school in Post, TX. As a young man, he worked as a farmer, grocer, butcher and electrician. He married Betty Ruth Conatser of Lingleville, TX, on January 23, 1943, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945. They moved to Hobbs in 1954, and Robby obtained his real estate brokers license in 1955. He remained in the real estate business in Lea County for over 50 years and also started insurance, construction and armored car businesses.
Betty and Robby were charter members of Taylor Memorial Baptist Church and Robby was on the first Board of Trustees of New Mexico Baptist College now University of the Southwest. Over the years he was honored by several organizations, including Kiwanis, the Hobbs Association of Realtors and the City of Lovington. He was an avid fan of Hobbs Eagle basketball and loved to fish, read and drink coffee with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Baker, and sisters, Audrey and Peggy.
He is survived by his wife, Betty sister, Bess McGlothlin sons, Richard Don and his wife Candi and Ken and his wife Cindy and grandchildren Kyle and Marney.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Robbys honor to Gideons International, PO Box 1481, Hobbs, NM 88240.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Taylor Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Dean Mathis officiating In state time will be 8 a.m. 6 p.m. on Monday at Chapel of Hope.
