Richard Lynn Morris

Funeral services for Richard Lynn Morris of Hobbs, N.M., will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home with the Rev. Gilbert Ramirez officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery South.

Visitation is 11 a.m.-5 p.m. today, 1- 5 p.m. Friday and 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Mr. MorrIs, 50, died June 30, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. He was born July 19, 1957, in Brownfield, Texas. He married Karen Kat Morris on Dec. 21, 1999, in Hobbs, N.M.

Richard had been employed by Xcel Energy for 25 years. He was a line working foreman at Xcel and in 1995 he was an instructor for the apprentice school. From 2007-08 he was on the Xcel Energy Safety Accident Reduction Team. He worked for KS Electric for 10 years. He was a lifetime memshy;ber of NRA and was the chairshy;man of Permian Friends of the NRA. He was the president of Hobbs Gun Club. Richard loved his family and friends. His grandchildren were the light of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Kat Morris of the home; a son, Jared Bo Langley of Seminole, Texas; a daughter, Kelly Ann Johnson of Hobbs, N.M.; five brothers, Floyd Chamberlain of Freeport, Texas, Robert Morris of Anchorage, Alaska, Bill and Maria Morris of Dallas, Texas, Timothy Owens of Memphis, Tenn., and Mark and Deann Grandy of Benson, Illinois; two sisters, Diane and Jack Clayton of Tatum, N.M., and Desiree and Kerry Taylor of Elgin, Texas; his parents, Bill and Virginia Morris of Elgin, Texas; a grandmother, Edith Morris of Slaton, Texas; three grandchilshy;dren, Jaron Little Man Langley of Seminole, Texas, Jared Barbarosa Posey of Hobbs, N.M., and Janelle Squeeks Langley of Seminole, Texas; Richard's Xcel Energy family; and numerous extended family and special friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, Adrian and Aline Fox; his mother, Wanda Fox; a brother, B.J. Morris; and a son-in-law, Toby Johnson.
