While the nation prepared for a Memorial Day to honor Americas military heroes, we made preparations to honor a fallen hero of our own. On Saturday, May 25th 2013, the world lost one of the most kind, compassionate, and accepting people ever to have graced its lands. While our hero never served in the military, she was a hero to us not only in her personal life as a sister, aunt, mother, greataunt and grandmother but also in her professional life, serving as a nurse to countless people across the country.
Rhonda was born on February 18, 1955 in Fort Worth, TX. Throughout her life, she lived in a number of places across the country, enjoying every minute of what life had to offer.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Steve Rains, daughter Jeanie Dunn and Jeanies son Gage, of Hobbs, NM niece Anne Rains Flores, Annes husband John, and their children Marcie and Sebastian of Carlsbad, NM nephew David Rains of Levelland special friends LaVena Skelton and Jan Rotenberry as well as other extended family members and friends across the nation.
Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Marcie Rains and older brother, Robert Rains.
As Rhonda was a longtime supporter of the Hospice concept and its programs, in lieu of flowers, we request donations to a Hospice service of your choice.
Rhonda is available for viewing at Chapel of Hope in Hobbs, NM through the morning of Saturday, May 1st, followed by a memorial service that day at 2pm at Taylor Street Church of Christ.
