Red Coppedge

April 21, 1918 — January 17, 2014

Funeral services for Oneal Red Coppedge of Las Cruces, NM, formerly of Hobbs, NM, will be at 10:00 am Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Taylor Street Church of Christ with Eli Borden officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery.

Visitation is from 5:00 6:00 pm Friday, January 24, at Chapel of Hope Funeral Home.

Mr. Coppedge, 95, died Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Haciendas Grace Village in Las Cruces, NM. He was born April 21, 1918 in Rotan, Texas. He married the love of his life, Wilma Onez Whitlock on February 7, 1941 in Brownwood, Texas. They had been married 65 years when she died in 2006.

Red grew up in Rotan and Yuma Arizona. He was a pioneer in the Hobbs oilfields, moving to Hobbs in 1936, working on the drilling rigs and selling and servicing pumps, eventually owning his own company, Service Pump and Supply in Lovington, NM. He was a member of the Taylor Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Robert Bob Coppedge and wife, Marie of Las Cruces, Two daughters, Darlene Kszyminski and husband, Frank, of Hudson Oaks, Texas and Vanita Swift and husband, Chuck, of San Marcos, Texas two sisters, Gladys Williamson of Hobbs, NM, and Lovene Moore of Eunice, NM, two brothers, Harold Coppedge and wife, Amy, of Grapeland, Texas, and Joe Coppedge and wife, Flo, of Springerville, Arizona 10 grandchildren, 24 greatgrandchildren, and 5 great, greatgrandchildren.
