Rebecca Lopez Salazar was born on August 4, 1949, in Pecos, TX to Dolores and Geronimo Lopez. She passed away on February 20, 2022, in Santa Fe, NM at the age of 72 surrounded by her loving family.
Rebecca loved her family and friends. She expressed a youthfulness that kept you laughing and feeling young. She talked all of the time about going to the “clubs” with her best friend, May “Grandma” Clay, but, she settled on church, which she enjoyed just the same. She loved to dance and listen to a variety of music, from Marvin Gaye and Barry White to Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube. She enjoyed going to the senior center to play games and have lunch with her friends, knitting, and word puzzles. However, nothing gave her more joy than having her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with her.
Rebecca is survived by her children, Joe (Nora) Salazar, Venisa Salazar, Erica (Charles) Fulton, Rachel (Mark) Sorheim, Michelle Salazar, Fernando (Melody) Salazar, Victoria Salazar, David (Brittany) Lemalu; siblings Anita (Raymond) Maldonado, Charlie Lopez, Rita Chavez, Geronimo Lopez Jr., Frank Lopez, Beatrice Lopez, James Huckabee, Silvia Collins and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Dolores and Geronimo Lopez, siblings Manuelita Lovas Rendon, Mary Helen Vasquez, Raymond Lopez, Patricia Segura, David Lopez, Joe Lopez, and her son, Nathaniel Lopez Salazar.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the Clay family for all they have done for our mother. Jimmy Clay, May “Grandma” Clay, Angela Adamson, and Ava Clay.
