Raymond Shirley, Sr.

Raymond Dale Shirley Sr.  was born in Portales, N.M. July 10, 1941.  R.D. grew up in Dora, N.M. on the family dairy farm which was full of wonderful stories of his growing up. He graduated high school in 1960 and moved to Oklahoma City to attend OU.  Raymond worked for Caterpillar as Diesel Mechanic/Electrician specializing in building generators for trade shows worldwide. Maryann McCurdy lived across the street, and they were married in 1962 and had 2 boys and a daughter. In 1973 they moved to Dora and began raising cows and farming. In 1974 another son was born and in 1978 another daughter. In 1979 RD began a contracting business as an electrician for oil drilling companies until his retirement. He had also worked in 5 countries around the world in his craft. RD was preceded in death by his daughters Tracy Drew, Leigh Ann, and his wife Maryann Henrietta McCurdy Shirley.  He is survived by his sons Raymond Shirley, Jim & Suzan Shirley, and Theron & Annie Shirley.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and 3 greatgrandchildren.  R.D went to be with Maryann and our Lord and Savior on July 2, 2021.
