Funeral services for Raymond L. Minnick of Hobbs, N.M., will be 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at Chapel of Hope Funeral home with Pastor Brad Reimers offishy;ciating. Burial will follow at a later date in Lawson Cemetery, Yale, Okla.
Mr. Minnick 87, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at Hobbs Health Care Center. He was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Yale, Okla. He married Gene Minnick on Jan. 11, 1948, in Stillwater, Okla. Ray was a World War II vetshy;eran, having served in Panama Canal and the European Theatre as a medic in the 207th Artillery Battalion. He was the recipishy;ent of three Bronze Stars. Ray retired from Amerada Hess in 1972 after 25 years of service. He moved to Hobbs, N.M., where he was very active in the Evening Lions Club and Red Man Hospital Auxiliary and was a VA Clinic volunteer. Ray and his wife, Gene, played Santa and Mrs. Claus for many functions in and around Lea County for many years. This was one of his greatest joys in life. He also enjoyed rock collecting, photography, fishing and hunting. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Larry Minnick and wife Pati of Hobbs, N.M.; a daughter, Becky Carcich and husband Joe of Lone Tree, Colo.; a grandson, Kelly Minnick and wife Anna of Corpus Christi, Texas; a granddaughter, Meghan Jene Antilla and husshy;band Marcus of Austin, Texas; and a great-grandson, Lucas Ray Antilla of Austin, Texas.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Stella Minnick; and his wife, Gene, on June 15, 1996.
