Randy Sheppard

Joe Randy Sheppard, 61, of Hobbs passed away August 3rd. Randy was born September 10,1955 in Odessa, TX to Donny and Jerry Sheppard.

He was a graduate of Odessa Permian High School as well as South Plains College in Levelland, TX. He married Becky Bohlar July 1982 in Pampa, TX.

Randy served in the United States Navy for four years. Upon honorable discharge Randy began his career in the oil and gas industry as a floor hand on a drilling rig for Cactus Drilling, in Pampa, TX. In 1982 Randy began employment with Gulf as a derrick hand, working his way up, he was transferred to multiple states such as North Dakota, Utah and numerous Texas locations. His last transfer being Hobbs, NM to serve as a gas plant operator. Randy medically retired with 34 years of service with Targa Resources. His interests were his grandchildren, hunting and managing his trucking company.

Randy is remembered by friends and family as being straight forward, generous and as a playful antagonist to those that knew him best.

Randy is survived by his son Joe Don Sheppard of Hobbs; Daughter Megan Stevens and husband Patrick of Lubbock: One brother, Don(Brenda) Sheppard of Houston, TX; One sister, Susan King(Jean) of Lubbock, TX; and five grandchildren, Allie, Micah, Andi, Peyton and Haven.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Becky Sheppard; and his parents Donny and Jerry Sheppard.
